Anthraquinone is mainly used in the production of dyes and is the main raw material of mordant dyes, acid dyes and VAT dyes.
Anthraquinone has been used as the raw material of anthraquinone dyes for a long time and occupies an important position in the dye industry. Anthraquinone derivatives have been extensively used in the production process and in the pulp industry. Many intermediates can be derived from anthraquinones (especially amino anthraquinones and hydroxy-anthraquinones). These anthraquinone derivatives are used in the synthesis of VAT dyes, acid dyes, reactive dyes and other advanced dyes. In addition, anthrahydroquinone produced by hydrogenation of anthraquinone can be rapidly reversed to anthraquinone by oxidation in air, and peroxide is produced. Using the above principle, it is used to manufacture in industry. In actual production, because of the use of a mixture of solvent benzene and higher alcohols, the anthraquinone used is 2-ethylanthraquinone or 2-tert-butylanthraquinone with good solubility in this mixture. Many intermediates derived from anthraquinone (especially amino-anthraquinone, hydroxy-anthraquinone, etc.) can be synthesized into urn dyes, acid dyes, reaction dyes and many other advanced dyes. It is used to produce peroxide. The addition of anthraquinone and tetrahydroanthraquinone in the pulp production process can improve efficiency, so the use of pulp additives is expanding.
